  When I went to pick up my car I was expecting a bill for $822.20 - that is, $471 + $315 + 36.20.

  When I asked why the bill was $126.60 higher than the quote I was told that they charged extra to fit the tyres I bought from them (no joke), extra fee for the wheel balance and the rest the for GST.

  Do NOT use these people if you expect them to honour a quote they give you. Here is why:

  Quotes are given to people so that they can decide whether they can afford the service (or good) and, where possible, to compare with other quotes. A quote that is violated is not a quote at all but a trap. As a uni student I do not have plenty of money. The extra $126.60 these people took from me today is not money that I could afford and it has taught me not to trust anyone anymore.

  The $471 quote was in addition to a quote of $315 to change 3 bold tyres on my car and a further $36.20 for doing the inspection. I gave them the go-ahead.

  As for the rest of the additional portion of the bill, he explained it as GST. Interestingly, he NEVER EVER mentioned that his quote was EX-GST!

  I find this behavior unprofessional, inept and borderline dishonest. I mean, how do they justify charging their customers EXTRA money to fit tyres the customers buy from them? Also, why was this magical "fitting fee" NOT included in their original $315 quote?
